What are the types of sessions available?

You name it! Maternity, newborn, children, family, and friendships.

Maternity Sessions ~ I recommend a maternity session be scheduled between 32-35 weeks. This will allow for a nice round belly, without all the discomforts of the last trimester. A common question is what to wear. A form fitting shirt to show off your bump with some unbuttoned jeans or yoga pants will work great. Be sure not to wear anything tight across your waist to avoid lines if you desire portraits that will expose your bump. IK. Atkinson Photography offers an extensive client closet in sizes ranging from XS to XXL. These gorgeous gowns are exclusively from designers that specialize in maternity gowns that will make you look and feel like the gorgeous momma that you are!

Newborn Sessions ~ Newborn sessions are best scheduled within the first 2 weeks after birth. Having a session scheduled within that time period allows babies to keep their flexible, smoochy, and snuggly shapes. Knowing that babies need to eat often and don't keep adult schedules, I keep session times open. A newborn session could take as little as one hour, or as long as three hours. Patience is the key with those sweet little ones!

Children and Family Sessions ~ I love, love, love family sessions. Some of the most innocent moments can turn into family treasures. I only wish I had taken more family portraits when my children were little! When you schedule your family session, keep in mind nap times for the little ones. It can be downright difficult to get the portraits you desire with a fussy and tired little one. A good rule of thumb is to avoid scheduling a session for a week after immunizations are given.

Where do sessions take place?

Sessions can be taken at my in home studio, outdoors, or at any studio within the DFW area the allows for booking of your session. I know of several areas throughout DFW that make for great portrait backgrounds. Some locations, such as the Fort Worth Botanical Gardens charge a location/photography fee.

How long does a session take?

I schedule two hours per session. While we could be lucky and get everything that you are looking for in the first 45 minutes, I want to be sure to have time scheduled for everything. I don't want you or your family to to feel rushed. For newborns, some sessions could run as long as three hours.

When can I see my portraits?

Two weeks after your session, we will schedule an ordering appointment. Please have everyone present that will be making purchasing decisions. Customized payment plans are available. All portraits must be paid for in full prior to your order being processed and completed. After your ordering session, a blog post and/or Facebook sneak peek can be released. An online gallery can be made available after your ordering session. The gallery will be available for two weeks only. After that time, your gallery will be removed. Your gallery can be reactivated for a $25 fee.

Once your order is placed, the turn around time is usually one week. Speciality items such as albums and canvases may take longer. I will contact you by both phone and e-mail to notify you when your portraits are ready to be picked up.

What forms of payment do you accept?

At this time, I accept cash, checks, and all major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express). Invoices are processed through Square. There will be a $35 dollar charge for all returned checks.
